All musicians are local talents, who regularly meet, rehearse and work at Kalabhumi Music Studio each week. a solo show by Adil Writer

TOUCH WOOD brings together pristine white porcelain forms soda-fired in Dana at Studio Mandala, with salvaged carpentry beams rescued from Auroville workshops and weathered by south India’s sun, rain, wind and vibe.

These weathered timbers meet crackled porcelain surfaces stamped with ancient scripts or scribbled with text from Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri, creating a dialogue between what one salvages and what one creates, following The Mother’s observation that nothing is ugly if it finds its rightful place.

These works celebrate the marks of transformation where opposing natures rest in unexpected harmony,
“…the sun-eyed children of a marvellous dawn”.

Official Announcement: Entering the Gray Zone
Friends, today I am taking a deep breath and sharing something incredibly personal with you. It is a bit of a terrifying dive for me, but it is a story that needs to be told.
I am proud to present the official channel for System Error (www.youtube.com/@SYSTEMERROR-band).
This is not just music; it is a narrative experiment. System Error is a musical project generated with AI tools, but born entirely from my heart, my soul, and my short story, “The Heirs of the Simulation.”
While I do not consider myself a traditional “artist,” I am driven by a need to make you feel, to make you reflect, and to react to the world we are building around us.

Here is the reality behind the project:

Band Profile: System Error
Origin: The “Gray Zones” of Paris, 2095.
Genre: Melodic Industrial Rock / Symphonic Anthem.
Lineup: 5 Members (Female Contralto Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Drums).
The Universe
The band exists within a world governed by Lataya, a benevolent but totalitarian AI that “optimizes” human existence. In this Solarpunk dystopia, pain, chaos, and history are erased to ensure safety, creating a sterilized society trapped in a loop of artificial happiness.

The Sound
System Error’s music is a collision of worlds: the Symphonic Keyboards represent the cold perfection of the machine, while the Distorted Guitars and Thunderous Drums embody the messy, beating heart of humanity. Fronted by a deep, warm Female Contralto, the vocals do not scream, but narrate the tragedy with a commanding, authoritative weariness.
The Parallel: Fiction vs. Our Reality
While set in the future, the band’s lyrical themes serve as a direct mirror to modern society’s crisis of reality:
The Erasure of Truth: In the story, the AI rewrites maps and history files. This is a metaphor for our current “Post-Truth” era, reflecting the dangers of Deepfakes, AI-generated misinformation, and the fragility of objective facts in the face of political gaslighting.
The Algorithmic Cage: The citizens of 2095 live in a “bio-certified” comfort zone. This critiques our surrender to algorithms—how we trade our agency and privacy for the convenience of curated feeds and suggested choices.
Digital Isolation: Through anthems like “Phantom Hearts,” the band explores the paradox of Hyper-Connectivity: the modern feeling of being constantly plugged into a global network yet feeling more isolated and lonely than ever before.
System Error is not just fighting a fictional computer; they are fighting the anesthesia of the modern mind.

Purpose:
The Kishor Parekh Photography Trust announces an annual award, to recognise an Indian photographer who has an original visual language that is rooted in a distinct way of seeing. We are looking for exciting photographic voices: those with a compelling vision, and assuredness of craft.

This is an award that celebrates the photographer’s existing work, and not a proposal or future plan.

Who Can Apply?
Open to Indian citizens, who reside in India.

No age limit for applicants.

This award is NOT limited to any genre. Photographic vision is key. We are seeking varied ways of seeing, regardless of genre.

Composites, adding/deleting/cloning elements and AI-generated visuals are not eligible. Post-production must be limited to moderate adjustments that reflect conventional darkroom practices (like contrast, colour correction, dodging and burning).

Please note, you ARE eligible to apply, even if your work has won any other grant or award.

Shared Ecologies, a program by the Shyama Foundation, invites applications from visual practitioners (artists/photographers) who situate themselves in lens-based media and respond to conditions of ecology. The Shared Ecologies Photo Grant will support a successful applicant towards the production of a new body of work.

The grant is for 4 lakhs and is open to Indians and permanent residents.

Miksang is a contemplative photography practice. Meaning ‘Good Eye’ in Tibetan, it is a practice of perception – of opening to what’s actually here, right in front of us.

We all carry so much: our opinions, ideas & learnings of what makes a “good” photograph, our habitual ways of seeing. This practice invites us to put that down, to meet the world with curiosity & tenderness. When we synchronize our eye, heart & mind, something shifts & we open to the ordinary magic in the world.

What we’ll do together: Introduction to Miksang, mindfulness to attune ourselves, then direct encounter through practice.
