A special sharing with the Community.

On Friday 16 Oct from 4:30 to 5:30pm

SAIIER Conference Hall

On the 7th of October, WasteLess turned 15!!

It’s been such an incredible journey – one that simply would not have been possible without our big, beautiful Auroville family supporting, encouraging and helping us along the way.

For the last few years, we have been working on an exciting new freshwater curriculum – exploring how we can help young people develop a deeper connection with water, understand the challenges we face, and become caring and confident ‘water superheroes’.

It’s going to be a focus for us over the next few years, and we find it super exciting! We’d love to share what we’ve done so far, what we’ve learned, and some of the lessons we’re developing – and to celebrate this milestone with

Love,

Ribhu and Chandrah

(On behalf of the WasteLess family)

MBSR is a well-established secular mindfulness programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, which has been attended by millions of people globally. It offers a chance to pause, reconnect with yourself, and learn practical ways to meet life’s stresses with greater calm, clarity and awareness.

Over the week, we explore mindfulness through guided practices, reflection and discussion, and discover how it can be brought into everyday life – helping us become more present and respond to life with greater choice.

The course may be particularly helpful for those wanting to work with:

stress and anxiety

overthinking and low mood

emotional balance

chronic pain

focus and attention

developing or deepening a mindfulness practice

The course is suitable for beginners as well as those with an existing practice, and can also be valuable for people interested in bringing mindfulness into their work. It is gently led by Helen – a qualified and experienced MBSR teacher.

The body holds the score of hidden emotions and unexpressed feelings that can be organised in the archetypal structure of the principal five elements of nature/us: wind, water, earth, fire, and space.

All are expressed by movements/dance with live vocal improvisation and video projections.

Free entry, open to all, contributions welcome.

Filtering female bodies through the ‘male gaze’ is the norm in all mass media.

Mainstream films operate within a system where male technicians ( like camera operators and editors ) decide how female bodies will be portrayed for mass audiences.

The access to digital media by women can balance this situation.

An example is dance-films.

The majority of professional dancers around the world are women.

Dance-films made by women are an example of radically new ways of looking at and representing female bodies. Not only do they offer alternatives to the ‘male gaze’ of mainstream media but they also allow new narratives to be made.

Dance-films have also allowed male and non-binary artists to imagine new ways of looking at bodies and relationships outside of mainstream expectations.

These films have major socio-cultural relevance as an indication of the future roles and relationships between genders.

This selection of dance-films, made by both men and women, presents new stories, hitherto untold and new imaginings, hitherto unexpressed. The screenings will be preceded by an introduction to help the audience ‘read’ gender in dance-films.

Curated by AuroApaar

AuroApaar is a transmedia collective focused on dance-films. Their cross-media work, over two decades, has been presented in major festivals around the world. As curators they have been invited to various international panels to present their unique curatorial perspective on the intersection of movement, image, text in post-colonial contexts.

Join us for a two-hour drawing session at AuroOrchard, where we will explore the orchard through a mindful walk, sharpen our observation skills, and find inspiration in the colours, shapes, and textures of nature. We will then come together to sketch elements of nature and create playful, creative portraits of one another.

_Facilitated by Claire_

Claire will guide participants through a simple, exploratory process of observing, connecting with nature, and expressing what they see through drawing.

Based on the bestselling book by renowned forester and author Peter Wohlleben, this documentary opens a window onto the hidden world of forests.

Can trees communicate?

Do they have a social life and care for one another?

Through his observations and the latest scientific insights, Wohlleben explores the remarkable relationships between trees and the complex ecosystems in which they live.

The film also follows Wohlleben through forests in Germany, Sweden, Poland and Canada, exploring the processes of life, death and regeneration and our changing understanding of the forest.

Step away from the noise and immerse yourself in a sonic fusion where ancient Eastern traditions (like the bamboo flute) meet the harmonic richness of the West, creating a unique classical crossover. This is a beautiful fusion of cultural harmonies that Daniel is so excited to share.

Tune out the world and let this melody speaks to you.

CLASSICAL CROSSOVER SINGLE RELEA

HRIDANAAD
हृदनाद

SOUND OF THE HEART
Hridanaad translates literally as “Heartbeat” or “Sound of the Heart.” Conceived as a musical bridge between traditions, the track harmoniously weaves together the contemplative depth of Eastern classical music with the rich harmonic textures of Western classical traditions.

Produced by Daniel, a versatile musician formally trained in Western classical guitar. An experienced studio engineer, Daniel brings notable industry credentials to the production, having worked with the legendary Hariharan and many others.

Through meditative bamboo flute phrasing and cinematic acoustic arrangements, Hridanaad creates an evocative sanctuary of peace and love.
