The Aurodhan Art Gallery takes great pleasure in announcing the Aurodhan Arts Festival 2023, an exquisite gathering where literature, music, dance, and surprise elements converge alongside book launches and art exhibitions. This occasion is graced by eminent artists, including the revered Vidushi and Padmashree awardees, unfolds at the enchanting Krtashraya Aurodhan art gallery emerald Gardens from December 18th to 20th, 2023. Aurodhan, a steadfast patron of the arts, extends its rich legacy globally, fostering cultural exchange and goodwill. The Aurodhan Arts Festival aspires to elevate artistic consciousness, fostering unity and harmony through the profound language of art.

It’s a fabulous explanation of the Alfred Tomatis method, its scientific bases, how and why it works. Authors, Dirk Beckedorf and Franz Muller of Germany, give detailed case studies while placing the method in the context of recent scientific findings in the fields of hearing, neurobiology, child development, and attachment research.

Welcome for a talk and book reading from Pankaj’s book followed by questions/answer session. This book is a compilation of writings on key issues and developments in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands over the last two decades. He has a long standing association with these Islands, being a member of the Environment Action Group known as KALPAVRIKSH PANKAJ SEKHSARIA, PhD., a friend and associate of an Aurovilian in the field of biodiversity conservation. Apart from being a reputed journalist, is a researcher, writer, photographer, campaigner and academic. He has worked extensively in the field of
environment and wild life conservation. He has launched his earlier book in Pondicherry, “The Last Wave – an Island Novel”, Fiction, Harper Collins India May 2014.

He is also known for his two earlier non-fiction books based on the Islands: Troubled Islands (2003), a collection of his journalistic writings, and the Jarawa Tribal Reserve Dossier for UNESCO: Cultural and biological diversity in the Andamans. After an incredibly adventurous and growing journey, my little book based on Dream Maps is born (at least first, approx 60 copies).

About the Book
This book took shape underfoot, literally. Growing appreciation of the tiny weed flowers along pathways or little clumps of greens sticking out of concrete, led the author to wonder: who were they, where did they come from, what were their names? As an ecologist, knowing the little wonders, kept her on her toes. As an ardent doodler, keen on science communication, sharing her finds visually made sense. As a foodie, she picked out the plants that could enrich the palate and the plate. In this journey the author was accompanied by an excellent team of illustrator, cover-designer, editorial helpers, desktop publisher and printer. Here is a coloring book with a set of 40 plants complete with an insert of color and information guide that adults can relax over, learn from and, most importantly, have fun with. What’s more, even the young can dig in and enjoy.

About the Genre
A coloring book for adults? Why not? Evolutionary biologists would point out: the emergence of art some 40,000 years ago, that marked us out as truly human, was an adult pastime. Psychologists would add: art as a therapy heals the mind and the body. Neuroscientists would say: creative expression with colors boosts brain activity and gives one a sense of control and mastery. In a work-obsessed age, the coloring book for adults is a perfect antidote to stress. It helps to relax: by combining logic, as one follows the form, with creativity, as one mixes and matches shades. It’s also a fun way to learn. While in the West such books increasingly top best-seller lists, as adults find their inner quiet that a coloring session can bring, this is likely the first one from India.

By revealing their spiritual names, as inspired by The Mother, the flowers also reveal their ability to change the world around and within us.

The event will include a short presentation, followed by a special planting of seeds and other plants to help Beautify the space around Sankalpa Art Dome and the International Zone. Books will also be sold!
