We will pick up flowers, leaves and other natural elements to extract the colors.

Here are a few simple guidelines :

Active Participation : Parents, please engage with your child during the activity. Sharing this creative experience strengthens your bond and encourages your child’s imagination.

Tidying Up Together : Let’s all work together at the end of the session to clean up our space and tools.

Contribution : A contribution is required to help cover the cost of materials. We ask for a contribution of 150 rs./class or 500 rs/month for Aurovilians, New comers and Volunteers. 250 rs./class for Guests.

You are invited to join workshops covering topics relating to colour:

* Science of light and colour

* Physiology of colour vision

* Colour psychology

* Colour theory in art and design

* Significance of colour in traditional Yoga

By gaining full insight into these scientific aspects of colour, participants are set to develop a deeper appreciation for the arrangement of colours in the symbol of the Mother. The symbol is considered a living symbol, and the choice of colours for different qualities may vary slightly for each individual based on their own personal growth and development of specific qualities.

To put the knowledge into practice, each participant will have the opportunity to create their own coloured symbol of the Mother by selecting a particular colour scheme from a range of options provided.

* Workshop 1 – 17.9. 2024, Savitri Bhavan, Sangam Hall, 16 – 19h Deep-dive into all of the above will take place during this workshop.

* Workshop 2 – 21.9. 2024, Savitri Bhavan, Sangam Hall, 16 – 19h Digital resources will be covered during this workshop, allowing participants to continue learning and practicing colour harmony at their leisure.

Amigurumi (“crocheted or knitted stuffed toy”) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. The word is a compound of the Japanese words ami, meaning “crocheted or knitted”, and kurumi, literally meaning “wrapping”, as in nuigurumi “(sewn) stuffed doll”.

This workshop is open to beginners as well as advanced students of crochet.

Tailor-made gate

PONDICHERRY – Whether we attribute the origin of the stroke of genius to the size of the car or the minuteness of the garage. The fact is that the car owner had the brilliant idea of using a recess in the wall of his home and turning it into a garage.

A double garage, nonetheless. Since, while at it, the owner also made room for a second car. 

Turns out the new subcompact, a gleaming red Hyundai, was 50 centimetres longer than the hole in the wall. Taking a creative leap, the car owner hired a skilled craftsman and designed a tailor-made gate. 

It’ll be hard to change cars in the future; for now, he can enjoy the luxury of having a garage and sleep peacefully knowing that his car is safe from bad weather and night thugs. 

Perhaps a problem of building abuse would have to be resolved at some point. But best to leave the burning question to the experts.

During these hard times of the pandemic, we have all faced extreme hardship and suffering. The most hit among these have been the villages and the artisans working on wages. Due to the lock down and the collapse of the local economy we have seen a large number of small businesses shut doors and lose their livelihoods. As the Pandemic has taught us how to work around the difficulties and still persevere, we see that it is still difficult for our local craftsmen to get back on their feet.

Due to this very reason we at Mohanam have been working on the project called AuroSanthai, a regular weekend market for over 4 months now. We wish to be the platform for these artisans and vendors to relaunch their lives and restart the local economy. We being an Auroville Unit wish to be the bridge between Auroville and the bioregion (neighbouring villages) where a mutual exchange of skills and resources shall benefit all the people involved. We would also like to be the centre that connects Pondicherry city to Auroville. By opening our doors to the village and the city we wish to make a booming exchange of culture, traditions, skill and resources.

We wish to launch this initiative on the 27^th and 28^th of February 2021 (10am to 8pm) which falls on the weekend i.e., Saturday and Sunday. And invite you for two days full of fun and entertainment, while showing solidarity and support to our local economy. Come and attend workshops, Talks and other special activities that Mohanam has experience in conducting and organising for years.
