Gurdjieff Movements are a series of precise and rhythmical choreographed dances, requiring deep self-awareness and mental attention to overcome automatic reactions and achieve a more awakened state of consciousness. Originating from ancient spiritual traditions, these movements are performed to specially composed music as a method for self-observation, transforming the practitioner by developing a refined quality of attention and a free flow of inner energy.
What you’ll learn

– The foundational Gurdjieff Movements and their unique structure
– How to cultivate self-observation and consciously direct your attention
– The connection between physical movement, emotional tone, and mental focus
– How to work with pauses, stillness, and music to sense the difference between mechanical reaction and conscious choice
– Ways to deepen insight through silence and group reflection

The pelvic floor is essential to many vital bodily functions, working quietly to support, protect, open, close, and stabilize. It collaborates with other muscle groups to maintain posture, balance, and breathing while stabilizing the hips, spine, and abdominal organs. As part of an interconnected system, the pelvic floor’s functionality is closely linked to movement quality, breathing, vocal expression, sexual health, and more. Despite its importance, this area often receives little attention, even though its proper functioning is crucial for maintaining overall psychophysical balance.

This workshop emphasizes developing awareness of the pelvic floor through experiential anatomy and somatic exploration using the Feldenkrais Method.

Danse élargie is a call to artists from all over the world, from every artistic field, without age limits, to introduce utterly original projects to be staged.

Anyone can apply / anything can happen, as long as you have something to champion. Only two rules: a maximum of 10 minutes / a minimum of 3 performers onstage.

Since 2010, initiated by Boris Charmatz, then director of Musée de la danse, and Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota director of Théâtre de la Ville, alongside the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, this competition has seen the emergence of artists who are now widely recognised. Two new organisers, ex-finalists themselves, have now joined the adventure: the collectif FAIR-E / CCN de Rennes et de Bretagne and (LA) HORDE / CCN-Ballet national de Marseille.

To all emerging artists, we invite you to be your moment, your era, your aspirations. To dare anything that dances, in the broadest sense of the term. To invent future movements.
You will be seen by an enthusiastic audience, experienced professionals, a jury of high-profile artists.
More than a competition, it is a unifying moment, a feast of ideas.

Applications are accepted until 31 December 2021, and the competition will take place on 25 & 26 June 2022 at the Théâtre de la Ville – Espace Cardin in Paris.
