  • In the second episode of MAP’s series Insider’s View, we present a sneak peek into the exhibition, Vignette – Visvakarma Clothing: Art and Artistry. Born out of a collaboration between the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Bengaluru, this exhibition takes its name from the seminal series of seven Vishwakarma exhibitions held in the 1980s.

Bringing this history to life and the forefront once more, in 2022, Vignette – Visvakarma Clothing: Art and Artistry brought together 25 textiles that featured in the original Vishwakarma exhibitions.

The virtual walkthrough, led by NIFT Bengaluru’s Director, Susan Thomas, explores the idea behind this revisiting and sheds light on the creativity and craftsmanship of weavers across India, over several decades. Viewers will witness the exceptional attention to detail, innovative techniques, and the grandeur of Indian textiles.

This project is an invitation to act together in Equal Harmony, we believe in an inclusive society, and our aim is to achieve Human Unity.

We would love to unite different experiences of Gender Equity together.
Experiences lived now or in the past, by you or by your lineage.
If you’d like to share through writing or recording some of your personal life experiences, we could also meet and, perhaps, some photos will come naturally.

In these virtual times while everyone is jumping between screens, the team at CPB has been exploring the magic of cyanotype printing. Working with your hands, with simple chemistry, sunlight and tap water, cyanotype allows artists and photographers of all skill levels to express themselves in shades of blue.

We are excited to host a Pop Up Exhibition on @WorldCyanotypeDay at our space in Adyar, Chennai. We are inviting the cyanotype community in India to send a print or two to our DIY outdoor exhibition to celebrate the medium. The call is free and open to everyone across India and we welcome all enthusiasts – from beginners to long term practitioners to share their prints for the exhibition. We truly believe that cyanotype is for anyone interested in experimenting with alternative printing and would like to invite you to join the fun.
