About the Workshop
An intensive exploration of the Art of Performance-Making, incorporating the coherence between Nature of Consciousness and Rhythmic movement of a performing body derived from aesthetic techniques of Cross-Cultural art forms – Kalari, Thirayattam, Noh, Butoh
Highlights
- Exploring the relationship between Nature and Human Imagination. (12-15 hours)
- Exploring the natural rhythmic cycle in a thinking/moving body. We will be incorporating Chenda – a traditional percussion instrument to learn and practise the the ethnic rhythmic patterns. (12-15 hours)
- Last 2 days will be devoted to learning Thirayattam – a ritualistic folk art from South Malabar. We will be learning everything from their unique approach to rhythm, movement, elaborate makeup and costume made from organic natural materials.
- Members in the workshop will be allowed to actively participate in the Thirayattam performance.
