Symbols & Scripts: The language of Craft

In 2012, my work was in an exhibition at Delhi’s Habitat Centre, AKSHARA curated by Jaya Jaitley. I had two works in the show, my solo platters and a collaborative pot which was made by Palanisamy and glazed and fired by me.
This show subsequently toured France, Egypt and Mumbai, before landing up in a varied form, Symbols & Scripts; set up in the stunning India Heritage Centre in Little India in Singapore.
On the invite from the organisers, i was in Singapore for two weeks earlier this month.
I was to make presentations, conduct workshops and have clay demonstrations to the public streaming into the gallery… especially during the week of the Tamil New Year.
My demo-time led me to explore the form of the mukhalingam, the museums in Singapore displaying several of these forms in various avatars.
Being stationed in Little India felt a lot like home in South India.
Two weeks well spent.
