The Rauf Ali Fellowship commemorates Professor Rauf Ali’s love for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and his vision to foster a vibrant and continuing research program in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Located 1200 kilometres away from mainland India, the Andaman and Nicobar archipelagos are ecologically unique and severely threatened in equal measure. Applied research is therefore crucial, if we are to secure the ecological security of this unique archipelago.

The Rauf Ali Fellowship grants two awards worth up to ₹2,50,000 each annually for innovative ecological research situated in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.  Applications for the 2021 Rauf Ali Fellowship are now open. Further details can be found on the Apply now tab (deadline June 1st 2021).

These fellowships were envisioned by Rauf Ali, endowed by him in last will and testament, and are generously supported by Rauf Ali’s family.
