CRETAYUGA_POSTER_01ARGILLA is a Biennale of Ceramics in Faenza, Italia.

The next Biennale takes place on 2nd, 3rd and 4th of September 2016. There are many exhibitions and markets with varied ceramic activities happening all around Faemza during this time. This year there are 250 ceramic artists exhibiting, Aurovilian artist Supriya Menon Meneghetti curated one of the exhibitions.

SUPRIYA MENON MENEGHETTI
Supriya Menon Meneghetti studied ceramics with Ray Meeker and Deborah Smith at the Golden Bridge Pottery in Pondicherry, India. With the Charles Wallace Award, she also studied with Sandy Brown in Devon, UK . Supriya has participated in artist-in-residence programs in the Europe, South Korea and in India. Her work has been exhibited in India and abroad and is part of the permanent collection at the Clayarch Gimhae Museum in South Korea.
Supriya has curated the “Deccan Teapot” in Auroville and “Ceramic Connect” – an Indo-Korean ceramic show in Chennai. She is trained and qualified in the art of Ikebana. Also, Supriya likes to paint and very often these three mediums of painting, ikebana and ceramics interflow in her works. She works at her studio in Auroville, Tamil Nadu.

For Argilla ’16, Supriya is curating a show with 15 ceramists from India, all the works are made in India. The show is called CRETA YUGA, as in Clay Age, the Italian word for clay is CRETA and the Sanskrit word for age is YUGA. The artists in this exhibition are from different parts and also from different schools of India and shows a wide spectrum of ceramics today in India.
