Pari Mahal or Fairies Abode, located on a hillock overlooking beautiful Dal Lake in Srinagar. This terraced arched garden was built by Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, in the mid-seventeenth century. It was here that Dara Shikoh got the Upanishads written down from a spoken Sanskrit language into written Persian and later Latin and the French language.
