This is a song that I hold very dear to myself. It touches upon emotions that most listeners have felt. The fear felt when presented with a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, the feeling of brokenness when hope seems lost, and the depression that sets in when we lose faith in ourselves. Throughout the song, these feelings are described as ‘hell’ from which we are desperately trying to find ‘The Path’ out of. The song goes on to say that each person is unique and has their own ‘story to tell’. And the struggles they face is a part of that story. So if you’re looking for a reason to carry on, the only place you can find it is within yourself. Because these struggles are what make us who we are, and it is the obstacles we overcome that give meaning to our lives.

Fit For A King is an American Metalcore band. They are known for their heavy and ‘in your face’ style with punchy and tough vocals carrying heartfelt and thought provoking lyrics, and their beefy rhythms and riffs. 

Their song “The Path” from their 2020 album of the same name, is about overcoming adversity and inner turmoil. The song is structured in a series of crescendos. This starts at the slower more monotonous verse talking about the obstacles we face, and the difficulties of life. This slowly builds tension as it rises into a pre-chorus about the value of these struggles and how they are not to be feared, but embraced. All the tension is finally released in the massive chorus about standing in the face of adversity and believing in yourself.
