It may not get any better
But I’ma make a home right here in the bad weather
Staying real light like a feather
Take a weight off but I’m still tough like leather
There’s thunder and rain and whatever
But I’m silver lining forever
The pain of the chain is to show me my limits
So up in this jail I’ma give it my all, ball till I fall, yeah
This song is one that I don’t know a lot about since I don’t understand most of the lyrics because they are in Hindi. From what I understand, the song talks about the things that keep us down and how we must continue to push forward. How the struggles we face make us stronger, and the obstacles we overcome are what make our legacy. But to me, the lyrics are not what make this song stand out. It is the musicianship that elevates Zanjeero Se to the pinnacle of songwriting. There are some songs that can connect so well to a person that one can’t describe why it resonates so deeply. Zanjeero Se is one of those songs that connects with me at the most basic level of human existence, and I don’t even know what he’s saying. It’s just the music. The melody of the instruments, the intensity of the rhythm, and the passion in the voice that speaks to me. It’s one of those songs that doesn’t really carry any meaning for me whatsoever. Because I relate to it on a deeper level than just an emotion or sentiment. It carries a certain existential weight that transcends expression or understanding. I imagine that most people won’t feel this way about this song, because every person has only a few songs that can connect with them like this. In fact, I think the fact that I don’t understand the lyrics is part of the reason that I feel this way about this song. I think everybody’s mind operates on a slightly different wavelength than someone else’s. And there are just a few songs that harmonize perfectly with this wavelength for unquantifiable sonic reasons, and Zanjeero Se is one of the few that does this for me.
Bloodywood is an Indian folk metal band from New Delhi. They combine elements of traditional Indian music with elements of heavy metal as well as rap with a truly unique sound that combines the flavours of Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine and Slipknot, with an Indian twist. But what makes this band truly special is the content of their music. Bloodywood is never afraid to tackle important and often sensitive issues ranging from depression, to rape, to the current political climate.
Their debut album ‘Rakshak’ released on February 18th and has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the music community both in India and abroad. The 3rd track on this album, Zanjeero Se hasn’t recieved as much acclaim as other tracks on the album, but is nonetheless a masterpiece.
The song features the melodic and thunderous vocals of Jayant Bhadula whose voice is especially highlighted in the enormous chorus. The buttery smooth voice of Raoul Kerr also shines on this track with a quick paced rap reminiscent of Mike Shinoda, with a little Eminem. But the star of this song is undoubtedly Karan Katiyar on the guitars. The modern metalcore-esque riffs and his signature style of chord progressions make the song stand out in an album filled to the brim with artistic brilliance.

“Zanjeero Se”
Khamoshi ye
Haar ki
Goonje kuchh iss tarah
Haan iss tarah
Har pal
Har kadam
Shaq khud pe
Tootein yoon hausla
Haan hausla
Halki si modd jab
Lage atodd
Har beeta pal
Lage thama
Khada fir bhi yahaan
Alag hai
Meri raah
Iss bandhi ke
Bheetar jale
Agni jo dab ke na bujhe
Zanjeero se
Zanjeero se
Zanjeero se
Mushkil hai path
Datt ke chale
Tufan ye roke na ruke
Zanjeero se

But I’m silver lining forever
The pain of the chain is to show me my limits
So up in this jail I’ma give it my all, ball till I fall, yeah
You see four walls I see an empire
Born of a fire of a soul that refused to bend
Ready to battle it out to the bitter end
My body will die but my story has a hope to send
So my friend, raise a glass, make a toast
Spread the word from the east to the west coast
In a breeze so sweet, let me live on like a ghost
Found my limits in my life but I lived it the most
Iss bandhi ke
Bheetar jale
Aag aisi
Jwala jaisi
Jo dab ke
Na bujhe
Na bujhe
Na bujhe
Agni jo dab ke na bujhe
Zanjeero se
