About the Artists
BALA @ K. Balasubraminan is from Chennai and has completed his Post Diploma in Fine Arts from Govt. College of Fine Arts, Madras. Bala’s works instantly strike as simplistic patterns in mesmerising monotones, but when we dwell on these large paintings for a longer period, one can find Tantic art forms, Hindu icons, maths and philosophy all emerging from the canvas as one family, in multiple layers. Bala’s usage of colours is minimal yet they grow to be vibrant. Inspite of subdued golds, browns, reds and ochres .His Paintings resonate tranquility reflecting his own self in a way
K.G. Narendra Babu is from Kancheepuram and has completed his Diploma & Post Diploma in Painting from Govt. College of Arts & Crafts, Madras. I am a dreamer and I dream my way into my canvas. To me the journey becomes life. The destination to me is not the focus, but the journey is. I believe in celebrating life with all its agony and ecstasy, the great moments and also the share of disappointments in a positive way. My figures float around, never static. It is the movement and ever changing phases of life that capture my imagination and not its preconceived ends. All things made by god are filled with beauty from the smallest species to the vast galaxy. I try to incorporate all the elements I have always felt and enjoyed since my childhood. Real incidents, stories, history, mythology, family and social life all become eternal in my works, my dreams continue alongside my art and it has been a fulfilling journey.
D. Ravi is from Chennai and has completed his Diploma & Post Diploma in Painting from Govt. College of Arts & Crafts, Madras. He has exhibited in ‘Serigraphs from India’, at Matrix Art Gallery, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA and at Affordable Art Fair, New York, USA. He is the winner of Tamil Nadu State Academy Award.
R. Shekar is from Thiruvanamalai District and has completed his Diploma in Fine Arts from D.F.A Govt. College of Arts & Crafts, Madras and Master of Fine Arts (painting) M.F.A Govt. College of Fine Arts Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. R. Sekar’s works have powerful and yet spontaneous lines. Lines which make the story complete. Most of his works are in black and white with minimal colours to highlight his ideas and fantasies. His works are influenced by folk-art, architecture, human forms and nature which is the striking feature of the Madras art movement. His control over lines is consistent throughout. Strong stories and images breathe within the canvas amongst the overpowering black lines.
