Once again, on the night of December 2, Deepam School in Aspiration Campus/Kuilapalayam was lit with more than a thousand oil lamps to celebrate the Karthigai Deepam and a short program by the children. Karthigai Deepam is a traditional festival that originates from the legend of Lord Shiva who had transformed himself into a divine flame. Deepam School works with children and youth with special needs from the surrounding villages. Deepam means light – the school’s chose this name with the intention to bring light into the lives of children and youth.
