Poetry: ‘Introductory Memory’ by Jasmine Storey

Jasmine Storey has grown up in Auroville. Her creative expressions are channeled through painting and poetry. Introductory Memory was written in August of 2020 and is a poem inspired by her oldest memory.

Introductory Memory

Time
slowly slips through the dusty fingers of a child.
Chubby limbs,
sweaty palms,
her whole being searches.
Scratching bird-like about the grains of a pit
For fallen pips of tamarind trees.
An unconscious comparison of seed and toddler
Both gems in a field of glass.
