Postcard Homage to Mani-da (K.G.Subramayan)
Among Mani-da’s many adorable habits was to respond to every letter he received with a handwritten letter – often with a little sketch or doodle. Every New Year he sent hand-drawn postcards to his friends and students. I am not sure how many of us reciprocated his wonderful gesture…
We at Tasmai are privileged to hold Mani-da’s first posthumous exhibition of ‘Recent Paper Works from 2015’ in the South of India. This one month long show which opened on August 7, 2016 up to September 6, 2016 was actually finalised when he was alive; now we will sadly miss his physical presence.
Thus concurrent with the above exhibit, we planned to have ‘Postcard Homage to Mani-da’ displaying hand-drawn/ handwritten postcards of his students, associates and admirers … all addressed to him.
Would like to cordially invite you to view these specially designed postcards as homage to Mani-da, and would like to take the opportunity to thank all the participating artists who have so warmly come forward and sent their wishes in the form of postcards.
