Dear Friends,
It has been nearly two years since Veenapani left us. But she left us her guiding spirit, her tangible energy and her commitment to excellence. And Adishakti has been growing in leaps and bounds in terms of performances, programs and incessant growth.
To celebrate the undying spirit of Veenapani, we conducted an impromptu festival in April, 2015 the month of her birth.
Friends, well-wishers and performers who had been inspired by her work came together for a month–long performance festival in a celebration of creativity.
This year too, to commemorate Veenapani’s birthday, we are conducting the second edition of “Remembering Veenapani”, a month-long weekend festival made possible by the generosity of our performing friends.
As you must know, after Veenapani’s demise Adishakti was able to attain full self-sustainability through self-generated income but the overhead expenses for the festival exceed our yearly budget.
This year we have been able to raise Rs. 4 ½ lakhs through our own savings and sponsorships from our local friends. And although the performers are performing for free, we would like to pay them some performance fees and travel expenses. We happen to be falling short of Rs. 3 lakhs. We are writing to you because any contribution you can make will only help us tide over the deficit.
We have over five thousand friends all over. If you are in a position to contribute Rs. 200/- the prize of a single ticket, it would amount to a staggering Rs. 10 lakhs, which will not only cover this festival but also buffer next years’s.
