Sangamam in Tamil means a group of people coming together. This celebration is held in honour of all those who have come together in Auroville in the spirit of community building over the last 50 years.
Sangamam has been celebrated several times over the last 30 years, acknowledging especially the workers who come from the bioregion who have dedicated much of their lives to building this township. This event also honours all the pioneers who have come from the world to transform this landscape in the true spirit of human unity. The event will take place near the Auroville Visitor’s Centre, expecting approximately 6000 people coming from the Auroville bioregion, India and the world.
The event will include performances and lively discussions with youth and elders about the early days, recent achievements, and future dreams for the Auroville bioregion. It will also act as a platform for sharing information about the educational activities that unite this region, and an exhibition on Auroville’s chronological physical development.
Please come and let us celebrate Auroville’s 50th Anniversary together, sharing food, laughter and joy in the true spirit of sangamam!
