Giovanni Pampiglione is a director, actor, educator, and writer.

He studied at the Sapienza University in Rome and at the Directing Department of the National Theater Academy in Warsaw. In 1980, he created L’Atelier di Formia, where invited artists exhibit twentieth century Polish drama in Italian.

He has directed drama theatres and opera houses in Italy, the Netherlands, France, Iceland, Poland, and Great Britain. He received the Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz prize, awarded by the International Theatre Institute, in 2004. In September 2014, he received the Honor Golden Cross “Gloria Artis” from the Warsaw Minister of Culture for his theatre life dedicated to Poland.

Pampiglione conducts workshops and internships with both students and professional actors in many European countries, including France, Italy, England, Finland and the USA, in Commedia dell’Arte, and modern and contemporary European theatre. In Poland, he is a lecturer at the Theatre Academy in Warsaw and the State Higher School of Theatre in Krakow.
