A very special celebration for a very special day in Auroville’s story: the 50th anniversary from that 28 February 1968, when the foundation of this township took place.

This is a report about the silent gathering in collective meditation around the traditional dawn-fire, listening to the Charter of Auroville, read by The Mother on radio on that occasion. It is followed by a Water Ceremony, where waters collected from over 315 different sources in the planet are poured together, in memory of the handfuls of soils from 240 countries in the world that were brought to Auroville on its foundation and still stay all together in the Urn at the centre of the Amphitheatre.
