Join us for a poetry performance and an artist talk by Himali Singh Soin on her book, titled we are opposite like that, a composition of a series of poems, historical documents, navigational records, calligrams, logograms, topological design elements and fictional mythologies based in the Polar Regions. Featuring a non-human protagonist Ice, Himali writes fictional mythologies to address the politics of ecology, language, and perspectives from the Global South. Ice, here, acts as an agent of resistance against colonialism and techno-capitalist greed for natural resources from the Poles.
Himali’s project challenges conventions by rethinking the boundaries of mythology and sci-fi, and in doing so, attempts to push the boundaries of literature as well. Her project tries to bring the literary and the performative together in its unique, evocative form.

Himali will be joined by Anshika Varma to discuss the creative process of making the book.
