master in traditional Japanese martial arts. Aikido is a path which
aspires to the unity of mankind, the unification of the self with the
universe, the union of Spirit and Matter. Seen as such, and in the
perspective of the integral development of the being as
emphasized by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, it is no wonder that
Aikido has always been greatly valued in Auroville and introduced
since the very early years. Both children and adults can enjoy and
benefit from its complete practice. There are no competitions in
Aikido. On the self-defense aspect of it, an aggressor's attack may
be stopped without harming or injuring him/her.

students, and the ones who would like to revive an old
(abandoned) practice!

Roy was one of Auroville’s pioneers. He dug foundation pits at the Matrimandir, he planted saplings, and he helped build the community’s first bakery. He’d lived a lot. You see the richness of that experience reflected in these works, like a tapestry of life in Auroville over the decades.

Roy Chvat was a man of many talents. He was a soulful guitarist, a brilliant raconteur, an excellent chef—and, as this exhibition shows, a gifted artist. He was also a humble and understated human being, which is its own form of talent. The work on display here is remarkable, but Roy never sought recognition for it, never assembled it or pushed for an exhibition. I doubt he’d even have described himself as an artist (though he clearly was). So we are fortunate to see this body of work gathered together at last, in one place, in memory of a beloved and singular Aurovilian life.

The aesthetic quality speaks for itself, as does the variety. What’s perhaps less apparent is the work’s historical significance. Aikido is a martial art created in the 1920s by Morihei Ueshiba, a
master in traditional Japanese martial arts. Aikido is a path which
aspires to the unity of mankind, the unification of the self with the
universe, the union of Spirit and Matter. Seen as such, and in the
perspective of the integral development of the being as
emphasized by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, it is no wonder that
Aikido has always been greatly valued in Auroville and introduced
since the very early years. Both children and adults can enjoy and
benefit from its complete practice. There are no competitions in
Aikido. On the self-defense aspect of it, an aggressor's attack may
be stopped without harming or injuring him/her.
The AV Aikido group welcomes new practitioners, Youth and Adult
students, and the ones who would like to revive an old
(abandoned) practice!
Adult classes:
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 6 - 7:30am, early morning.
Beginners are most welcome. Girls and women are especially
called to join us.

and with such originality,
that his work transcends the
medium itself. Over more than
30 years, he took thousands
of photographs, revealing a
formally rigorous talent whose
precision and dedication
bridge the XIX and XX century
worlds of image-making and
bring a distinctly sculptural aspect
to a firmly two-dimensional
art form.

Beautifully but starkly composed against plain cardboard
backgrounds, Blossfeldt’s images, relying on a northern
light for their sense of volume, reveal nothing of the man
but everything of themselves. They are still lifes, piercingly
final statements on their subject, and have endured owing
to their aesthetics and the ongoing fascination of students
and photographers. Like their maker, they are quietly and
lastingly effective.

Neha Dighe invites you to 6 days of play, with ‘HARMONY’. 
Join us, in solving the jigsaw puzzle as we discover the rules of the game together.
Harmony emerged from attempts to read the land, from what one sees on the surface of the landscape and the layers of stories that it holds. Land and water, ‘drawing’ landscapes over geological times.
Harmony is an attempt to initiate a dialogue about landscapes, geology, hydrology and habitat fragmentation to provide a sense of nurture to the climate anxiety embedded in the work.
It is designed to spark conversations, discussions and curiosity. Perhaps even an urge to pursue something that comes up through these interactions!
This work is a part of a series titled ‘All Problems of Existence are essentially problems of Harmony’. The title is a quote borrowed from Sri Aurobindo’s book, The Life Divine.

Neha Dighe invites you to 6 days of play, with ‘HARMONY’. 
Join us, in solving the jigsaw puzzle as we discover the rules of the game together.
Harmony emerged from attempts to read the land, from what one sees on the surface of the landscape and the layers of stories that it holds. Land and water, ‘drawing’ landscapes over geological times.
Harmony is an attempt to initiate a dialogue about landscapes, geology, hydrology and habitat fragmentation to provide a sense of nurture to the climate anxiety embedded in the work.
It is designed to spark conversations, discussions and curiosity. Perhaps even an urge to pursue something that comes up through these interactions!
This work is a part of a series titled ‘All Problems of Existence are essentially problems of Harmony’. The title is a quote borrowed from Sri Aurobindo’s book, The Life Divine.

Aikido is a martial art created in the 1920s by Morihei Ueshiba, a
master in traditional Japanese martial arts. Aikido is a path which
aspires to the unity of mankind, the unification of the self with the
universe, the union of Spirit and Matter. Seen as such, and in the
perspective of the integral development of the being as
emphasized by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, it is no wonder that
Aikido has always been greatly valued in Auroville and introduced
since the very early years. Both children and adults can enjoy and
benefit from its complete practice. There are no competitions in
Aikido. On the self-defense aspect of it, an aggressor's attack may
be stopped without harming or injuring him/her.
The AV Aikido group welcomes new practitioners, Youth and Adult
students, and the ones who would like to revive an old
(abandoned) practice!
Adult classes:
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 6 - 7:30am, early morning.
Beginners are most welcome. Girls and women are especially
called to join us.

photographed plants so beautifully,
and with such originality,
that his work transcends the
medium itself. Over more than
30 years, he took thousands
of photographs, revealing a
formally rigorous talent whose
precision and dedication
bridge the XIX and XX century
worlds of image-making and
bring a distinctly sculptural aspect
to a firmly two-dimensional
art form.

Beautifully but starkly composed against plain cardboard
backgrounds, Blossfeldt’s images, relying on a northern
light for their sense of volume, reveal nothing of the man
but everything of themselves. They are still lifes, piercingly
final statements on their subject, and have endured owing
to their aesthetics and the ongoing fascination of students
and photographers. Like their maker, they are quietly and
lastingly effective.

The practise produce a soothing sound believed to have a
