The decision to proceed with the Kochi-Muziris Biennale was made not just to bring back confidence to the art and culture sector, but as part of our larger vision and project to demonstrate how art and culture can directly feed into an economy.
During this time besides the central exhibition, we will be conducting a range of programmes including seminars, residencies, theater, and music. Other flagship programmes that will be underway include our children and education focus Art by Children (ABC), Students Biennale, which supports young art students from over 50 state colleges in India.
Our latest announcement of Knowledge Lab, will work to harbour and advance thoughts and ideas with the hope of extending our approach towards our fast-changing world. The International Residency programme will evolve to focus on artistic research and thematic frameworks. The edition also writes about the new DBF-KMB Award, which is a multi-year exhibition and lecture programme that brings together the Hayward Gallery, the Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation (DBF) and the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KMB). In addition to these, we will organize a range of local programmes that include film festivals, regional music and its revival, local crafts, and theater traditions.
