The Path of Silk: The Art of Quilting.
Coming from a background of theatre, I settled in Auroville in January 1984.
For my work in theatre and dance, manual work has always been essential. So I was cultivating hobbies like painting, batik and patchwork.
Today quilting is my canvas on which forms are evolving. I find in silk the suitable medium to express an art that stands between sculpture and painting. Most of my recent quilts are freeform with little patterns and measuring involved. The needle is my doorway to meditation.
Maria Grazia’s studio is open to visitors in the morning from 9 to 12 am by prior appointment. Everybody is welcome!
