Introspect, Discover, Decide
Auroville Gap-year Programme start in September.
The Auroville Gap-year Programme has been designed as a way of finding and establishing one’s true calling in the context of the vision and work of Auroville. It provides the learners with knowledge and skills to develop themselves further in any field of work that they may get drawn into and integrate with the community as an adult.
The programme is composed of two semesters with a one-month term break in between. The course contents are organized around three themes: Self, Society, Nature.
The Auroville Gap-year Programme follows a pedagogy deeply rooted in exploring and discovering one’s true potential and manifesting it in life. It provides the learners with knowledge and skills to develop themselves further in any field of work that they may get drawn into and integrate with the community as an adult.

The Auroville Gap-year Programme has been developed by Auroville Campus Initiative (ACI), the department of further learning of Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research (SAIIER), Auroville.
The Auroville Campus Initiative started in 2014 as an answer to the need for a common platform to share our knowledge and increase it. We began with a series of presentations called Joy of Learning with the aim of encouraging residents to revise and broaden their perspective of various aspects of Auroville’s life, like the economy, town development, water management, mobility, food and farming etc… (see Auroville Today)
In 2016, ACI launched Swadharma , a self-exploration programme for all youth between 18 and 28 which has been received very positively and benefitted over 50 youths from India and abroad. See Auroville Today no.327 & auroville.org.in .
A further learning infrastructure for young adults in Auroville is still in great need for development. Auroville Gap-year Programme addresses more specifically the needs of Auroville youth.
