About the director and performer:

SinChaHongSin Cha Hong
The world-renowned avant-garde dancer and choreographer.

In the 70s and 80s, for more than 20 years, she worked with her own dance company, Laughing Stone, in New York. She worked together with the avant-garde composer John Cage and with video artist Nam Jun Paik for her dance pieces. Even after her departure, when returning to New York for performances until today each of her work was enthusiastically reviewed by New York Times. In the early 70s she travelled to India on a spiritual journey. Her experiences in India propounded her awareness of dance and life. In the early 90s she came back to Korea and organised a dance festival annually for about 20 years. She has been performing all around the world with her dance group Laughing Stone. Recently she has been more focused on her solo pieces. She is recognised as one of the most influential artists in Korea.

She has been working with Sin Cha Hong more than 20 years as Ms. Hong’s assistant and as a dancer in the Laughing Stone company. Ms. Choi is also a waterphoneist. The waterphone is a well-known New-Age instruments which was created by Richard Water. She has been playing it in many countries since 2001. Now she is a middle-school math teacher in Honolulu, Hawaii. She realised that math connects to art and art connects to life.
