Live Sand Animation
A performance by Raja Gopen Biswas

On Friday the 18th of March, 2016 at 7:30 PM

In Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas

Duration: 12 Minutes (Before the start of the Movie “ANKUR”)

About the art
Sand Animation is an ancient story telling technique and which is in fact inherent to human nature itself; very similar to a child drawing figures in soil. The story unfolds frame by frame as the concept flows from the presenter through the sand, giving otherwise formless sand particles, form and thus meaning. The presenter sonorously morphs one frame to other moving with the rhythm of music, transcending the audience to a journey in time, space and meaning – in a symbolic ‘space’ where the presenter communicates with the audience through the story being performed. It is indeed a synesthetic out worldly experience to be immersed in such a performance, both as a performer as well as someone in the audience.
