Description: This discussion will examine themes like togetherness in making kantha and how urban and rural practitioners or designers are reinventing textile practices in our daily lives by empowering women and adopting slow fashion production. It features founders of the clothing brand Indigene, Ruchi Tripathi and Jaya Bhatt as well as social activist Shabnam Ramaswamy in conversation with Vaishnavi Kambadur, assistant curator at MAP.

Curated as part of the programming around the online exhibition Painted Stitches, Woven Stories.

2. Madhubani Art Class

Description: Learn more about this popular art form, meet Avinash Karn who is making Madhubani paintings relevant to our times, and make a Madhubani painting for yourself under his guidance! Madhubani is a traditional Indian art form made on canvas, cloth or cow dung washed handmade paper. 

We encourage participants with any kind of difficulty related to hearing, speaking, learning, etc. to participate in the class.
