adil_1Adil Writer is off to Barcelona to participate in the International Ceramic Symposium (Aug 27 – Sept 11, 2016) with his soda-fired ‘Books’ and then he will go on to exhibit his Planet-Gaudi Treasure Boxes at the International Academy for Ceramics from the 12 to the 16th of September.

Adil Writer is a Bombay architect who relocated life to study ceramics at Golden Bridge Pottery in the quaint town of Pondicherry. Since 2000, he is a partner at Mandala Pottery in the international community of Auroville in south India where he strikes a fine balance between making functional tableware and his own studio ceramics and large scale architectural murals and installations. Writer exhibits internationally, and has had showings of his ceramics and paintings in Japan, Indonesia, Korea, China, Estonia, France, USA, Australia and several galleries in India.

His recent soda-woodfired ceramic books are on display at the El Torn studio / gallery. Writer is as passionate about his large scale sand-series paintings where he combines unfired clays, grogs and other ceramic ingredients in his acrylics on canvas. He is a member of the Geneva based International Academy of Ceramics and is exhibiting his Gaudi-inspired ceramic treasure boxes at the IAC conference in Barcelona.
