Ivana Frousova’s painting exhibition under way at Auroville
Ivana Frousova, a registered artist in the Roof Studio, Auroville, has been working on a project for SAIIER (Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research). Her exhibition at the European House at Auroville will be open from 9.30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. It will be on till 15 June.
She uses just four colours in all her paintings. She picked up three cool colors – lemon yellow, Prussian blue, Carmine and one warm color, burnt Sienna. She was excited to mix up and form fusion of colors in her paintings. All her works are much integrated with Auroville. Recently conferences were arranged to elucidate her art and her techniques.
“I like to paint him, a person with internal serenity,” she says, when discussing her paintings of Sri Aurobindo. She painted the pictures of Sri Aurobindo at various stages of life and even attempted an imaginary death-bed scene of Sri Aurobindo which highlights her dedication and intense attachment to the place.
Future projects of Ms. Frousova will be based on Sri Aurobindo’s ‘Synthesis of Yoga’.
Her works are likely to be exhibited next year at Savitri Bhavan. Apart from portraits and abstract paintings, she added up two more categories to her gallery – still life – which portrays culture and objects of daily Indian life and ‘landscape’ of Auroville’s ambiance and crystal globe Matrimandir.
Ivana, a Czech-born artist, was an economics student and led a life of 9 to 5 routine but her travel from the U.K. to India, her interest in meditation and scuba-diving made her visit art galleries and to sketch as well.
“I thank Ms. Audrez from ‘Creativity’ who helped me initially and SAIIER, European house for financial help and accommodation ” she says.
Ivana is an empathetic person who is half-way through her personal project — I am a child with special needs. She plans to exhibit her works across the city to create awareness about special children.
