In a romantic look at early modern paintings of Indian women by Indian artists, the beautiful and lyrical images are accompanied by prose and poetry by Rabindranath Tagore, taken from his Gitanjali, Stray Birds, Chitralipi and A Tagore Reader. The conclusion includes fantasy paintings of women done by Tagore himself, and his words: “Lady of Lines, these words are not an alien invasion come to set a limit to your realm. They are but some noisy birds that for a moment flit across your garden while your meaning lies beyond their chippings.”
